Our Approaches

Each of our therapists is unique and may utilize one or more of the following approaches:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

A Cognitive-behavioral therapy approach can be used to treat clients with a wide range of mental health problems. Cognitive therapy helps clients develop alternative ways of thinking and behaving that reduce their psychological distress.

Family Therapy

WBC Counseling uses the Family therapy approach to help family members improve communication and resolve conflicts. This approach may address specific issues such as marital disputes between parents and children or the impact of traumatic brain injury, substance abuse, or a mental illness on the entire family.  Family therapy also teaches the family skills to deepen connections.

Christian Counseling

Upon request, a Christian Counseling approach can be used to improve mental health and relationships by using scripture and biblical teachings to help clients manage life’s challenges. This approach combines faith with the principles of psychology.

Solution Focused

The approach of Solution Focused Therapy relies on appropriate questioning and coaching to help clients come to their own best solutions for present and future problems.

The psychoanalytic approach has its origin in the work and theories of Sigmund Freud. Psychoanalysis is the belief that all people have unconscious thoughts, feelings, desires, and memories.

WBC uses the psychoanalysis approach to release repressed emotions and experiences, such as making the unconscious conscious.

Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy

Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) is an approach that helps identify negative thought patterns and irrational beliefs that may lead to emotional or behavioral issues.
Once these patterns have been identified, a therapist will help develop strategies to replace them with more rational thought patterns.

Trauma Focused Therapy

This form of cognitive-behavioral therapy addresses the specific emotional and mental health needs of adults, adolescents, children, and families struggling to overcome the destructive effects of early trauma.

Trauma Focused Therapy has been proven effective for treatment after a single traumatic event or multiple traumas. Therapy can help those experiencing the emotional effects of trauma by addressing and resolve these effects.

Art Therapy

WBC Counseling uses the art therapy approach method to treat psychological disorders and enhance mental health.
Art therapy is an approach based on the idea that creative expression can foster healing and mental well-being.
